Love Without Wings
She dreams of a kind of love
With eyes and ears
That sees covert aspiration
And hears reticent yearning
A love that can serve as a filler
To patch up all the hollows
Occupied by despairs
To seal the crevices of distrust
A love as powerful as a salve
That can smooth scars in memories
And heal wounds in the heart
A love as balmy as warm current
In soothing weary soul and ragged
spirit
A love that does not treat her like
An object for possession
That is not a lavish pretense
And will not get old
Nor grow wings to fly away
Love Object
They met in a party
Bewitched by her beauty
He passionately fell in love with her
Adored her as a goddess
She became his love object
Happily they got married
And children born thereafter
Being a devoted wife
Even more a loving mother
She got buried in busy house work
Drudgery of everyday life
Gradually eroded her beauty
As well as their love
And for him
As his career prospered
Attractive women never
Ceased to flirt with him
Before she caught it
He had long entangled
With another woman
Younger and prettier
She struggled to save her marriage
Only to realize love was
Neither negotiable
Nor restorable with forgiveness
And when he voided love to her
She was left as an object
Disposable
Bio
Shih-Fang Wang: After retirement from medical profession
in 2016, I shifted gears and entered into the fascinating art world. I enjoy writing and watercolor painting. In Dr. Mira N. Mataric’s creative writing class I started to write
poems. Through expressing emotions,
depicting humanity, exploring life and nature with poems I am able to gain more
insight into my inner world.
